Charlaine Harris is the prolific author of the enormously popular Sookie Stackhouse Series. The series is set in northern Mississippi which happens to be close to Charlaine Harris’ hometown and her current residence in southern Arkansas.

The storyline is about a young girl named Sookie Stackhouse who is telepathic and encounters a friendly vampire in the diner where she works.  A romance soon begins and Sookie finds herself involved in mysterious and difficult circumstances.  It’s an earthy, sensual, and riveting story that keeps readers coming back for the next installment of the 9 sequels.

Charlaine Harris has also written other best selling novels including the recent series titled The Harper Connelly Mysteries and her earlier works of Aurora Teagarden and the Shakespeare series.

The hit HBO series True Blood is based on the Charlaine Harris novels where vampires can live on synthetic blood instead of stalking humans to survive.  The show is into it’s third season and going strong with a host of loyal followers.

The latest novel by Charlaine Harris is Dead in the Water and it has predictably become another best seller on the New York Times Best Seller List.
